Pickett’s Ginger Beer Syrup – Branding and Promotions
Background:
Pickett’s Ginger Beer Syrup and Pickett Brothers Beverage launched in early 2012, introducing a line of concentrated ginger beer syrups. When mixed with soda water or SodaStream carbonated water, the syrup produces an intensely ginger-flavored, spicy soft drink that serves as both a refreshing soda and a versatile cocktail mixer.
The founders—three Midwestern-born brothers—envisioned their surname, "Pickett," as the cornerstone of the brand’s identity, reflecting the homegrown, classic feel of their products.
My Role and Contributions:
Brand Identity Creation:
Collaborated closely with the founders to design a logo that captures a timeless “Americana” aesthetic, echoing the handmade, home-style nature of their syrups.
Incorporated a "GB" into the label design as a shorthand for Ginger Beer, while also nodding to classic UK auto badges for a touch of international flair.
Packaging Design:
Designed labels featuring a color-coded system to differentiate the three levels of spiciness offered by Pickett’s syrups.
Ensured the design communicated both the premium quality and the bold, spicy character of the product.
Marketing Collateral:
Developed a wide range of supporting materials, including business cards, postcards, banners, ad creatives, and point-of-sale displays, ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints.
Recognition:
The packaging design received the 2019 Sip Awards Gold Award for excellence in package design.
Outcome:
The result was a cohesive brand identity that highlighted the Pickett brothers' heritage, the bold flavors of their products, and the nostalgic, handcrafted appeal of their ginger beer syrup.
