A Ham Sandwich is a common “non-snob” food made up of the basics, typically bread and meat. It can be prepared with multiple condiments in endless arrangements, depending on the consumer's taste buds.

Ham Sandwich examines how contemporary artists use food as a means to address issues of politics, history and culture as well as how food can reveal views, passions, assumptions and personalities.

Food is necessary for survival, yet its overall significance transcends the everyday need by acting as an integral part of our communities. Food is as an intermediary, connecting us with others through school lunches, work, holiday meals, parties, dates and more.

For this exhibition, we welcome work that explores contemporary aspects of food culture such as globalization, imperialism, consumerism as well as depictions of food that may reveal allegories for certain virtues or values.
